Instructional Assistants (I.A.)
An Instructional Assistant is a current student, selected by an instructor to provide academic support for students enrolled in a specific course or section of a course. IAs hold regularly scheduled group review sessions weekly and are available at posted times to answer questions about course material. There is a schedule for these sessions and students are encouraged to attend.
Academic Services provides individualized and small group assistance to supplement classroom instruction. The goal of the peer tutoring program is to help students become independent learners. Tutoring is not intended to be long-term, but rather to help a student with a distinct problem in a particular course.
We provide tutoring in two formats, peer and walk-in. Peer tutors are recommended by faculty, receive training, and hold appointments at times mutually convenient to student and tutor. Tutors can be requested thorough the Academic Services page in myCedarCrest. Every effort is made to match students quickly. Walk-in tutoring is available in a variety of subject by visiting the Student Success Center in Cressman Library.
