CCC-101 – College Life

College Life is an orientation course, taught by a faculty advisor, a member of the Student Affairs staff, and a current student (First Year Experience Mentor).  In this course, students discuss issues of importance to them in making a successful transition to College.  Topics may include how to succeed at college, choosing the right courses or major, enhancing study skills, time management, stress management, and interpersonal relationships.  This course is offered in the fall semester.

CCC-102 – Exploring Your Future

This course is designed to help students develop an understanding of the career decision-making process, to assist students with choosing a major and putting their career plan into action.  Students learn how to evaluate their goals, interests, values and strengths, how to conduct research pertaining to their majors and careers, prepare and build a resume, and effectively explore career and internship opportunities.  Students are involved in hands-on projects and activities such as taking self-assessment tests, conducting informational interviews, using the Internet, and preparing a resume.  This course is offered in the spring semester.

CCC 101 College Life is a part of the First Year Experience (FYE) program at Cedar Crest College, which also includes the First Year Seminar course (Fall) and CCC 102 Exploring Your Future (Spring) courses. A grade of “P” (Passing) is required to meet the College Life portion of the FYE requirement. Students who do not successfully complete SPS 120 with a grade of P will be required to complete an additional 3-credit Writing 2 or Global Studies course with a grade of C or better to meet the graduation requirements.
