Support & Advocacy

The Center for Diversity and Inclusion supports and advocates for our diverse and historically marginalized populations:

Student Diversity Council

The Student Diversity Council is comprised of the current CCC cultural and social justice organizations. The vision of the council is to create a space where diverse student leaders can collaborate and communicate with each other and the CDI.

This committee, serves as a student advisory board for CDI. Encourages and promote inter-group awareness, is a forum used by students to discuss challenges faced and to create community solutions. Providing an opportunity for student leaders to expand their advocacy, communication while fostering a sense of community and dialogue among student organization.

Gender and Sexuality Diversity

Cedar Crest College is dedicated to creating an environment based on inclusivity, to that end, the College prefers to use the term Gender and Sexuality Diversity (GSD) in place of the LGBT+ acronym that many are familiar with as this term is more inclusive of identities that do not fall under L, G, B, or T. Regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity, Cedar Crest is committed to seeing all students grow and develop.

The CDI works with students, faculty, and staff to pave the path towards equality and acceptance through programming and advocacy. The Center partners with the GSD student group, Out There, and Faculty a Staff to provide support to all persons at Cedar Crest.

Spiritual and Religious Diversity

The College views a student’s spiritual development as an integral part of her educational experience. To this end, Cedar Crest provides students of all faiths the opportunity to seek avenues of personal growth. The chaplain is available for support and counseling on spiritual concerns and you may contact Dr. Allen Richardson at 610-606-4666, extension 3320.

The CDI will also work with individual students to create avenues and partnerships to best support student development and spaces for spiritual growth and reflection. For more information please reach out to Tatiana Diaz 610-606-4666, extension 3596 or visit the Spiritual and Religious Diversity page on My CedarCrest.

Bias Response Policy

Cedar Crest College (the “College”) values a diverse, inclusive, and equitable learning environment. The College is committed to maintaining a respectful and welcoming living, learning, and working environment for all students, faculty, and staff. As such, the College has established the Bias Incident Response Team. The Response Team is the first response from the College in coordinating responses to bias and hate incidents. The Response Team ensures that affected individuals have access to appropriate resources, to assist the College in its response, and to facilitate a coordinated campus response to bias-related incidents and situations.
