Employment Opportunities - Faculty

School of Nursing Faculty Positions

Director of Graduate Nursing Programs

The School of Nursing at Cedar Crest College is currently accepting applications for a qualified nursing professional committed to leading the education of graduate level nurses, including nurse practitioners in our newly accredited Doctor of Nursing Practice and nurse practitioner programs (Family and Adult Gerontology Acute Care). The Director will have oversight over all graduate nursing programs including the MSN, DNP, BSN-DNP and PMCs and work collaboratively with the Assistant Director of Graduate Nursing Programs. Programs include Nurse Educator, Nurse Administrator, and Nurse Practitioner tracks.

Our nursing program has a long tradition of excellence in nursing education and the creation of the School of Nursing has allowed us to expand our educational offerings and opportunities for qualified faculty.

This is a full time, 12 month tenure track position with the option of an accelerated path to tenure with prior academic experience. 

Requirements:  The Director should be a DNP prepared nurse practitioner with national certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner or Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, however, other nursing specialties will be considered. Candidate should also have experience with directing/leading DNP projects and prior experience in a clinical setting as well as experience teaching in a master’s or doctoral nursing program.

Adjunct Faculty

For nursing educators who prefer flexibility in scheduling, applications are also being accepted for adjunct faculty in the following specialties:

Candidates for adjunct faculty must have an MSN, (doctoral degree preferred) and experience in the area of specialty along with experience teaching in a college environment.

Library Director

Cedar Crest College seeks the next director of Cressman Library.  The successful candidate will have a vision for student success and equitable learning in library services, information literacy, and collections management. As a women’s college with co-educational adult and graduate programs, Cedar Crest offers 38 bachelor-degree programs and an advancing portfolio of master degrees and practitioner doctorates. Our mission is to educate the next generation of leaders, especially women, for life in a global community. Our students include many from first-generation college families. They include diverse races and ethnicities, nationalities, economic means, gender and sexually diverse identities, religious beliefs, abilities and disabilities, and ages.  This position is scheduled to begin in March 2020. 

The Library Director will set a forward-thinking vision for the library’s educational services and collections, valuing equity, empowerment, and expanded access for student learning in information literacy and research capabilities. The Library Director reports to the provost and advises College administration and faculty on evolving library and information-literacy based practices and needs. The director establishes library policies through collaborative leadership and decision-making with faculty, students, staff, and community members; curates the library collection and information services for evolving curricular and student learning needs; mentors and supervises library personnel, including two professional librarians, part-time support staff, and student workers; prepares and manages the library budget; maintains and negotiates contracts with library vendors to provide for optimum resources; assesses and improves library resources and services to meet curricular student learning outcomes; develops and implements the library’s instructional offerings for information literacy; prepares reports for review bodies, such as accreditors; and, among other duties, serves on College, consortium, and regional affiliate committees as needed.

Minimum qualifications include a master’s degree from an ALA-accredited institution; three or more years of relevant supervisory experience in a library, including a record of increasing responsibility and demonstrated success in meeting the evolving goals of contemporary library services.

Rising in three levels from the Cedar Crest hillside, the Cressman Library reflects the College's commitment to liberal-arts education and online information technologies. The open-stack structure is an integral unit of the Cedar Crest library system with collections of 121,031 print volumes and over 263,526 e-books, as well as 23,428 current serials titles, 4,706 physical media, and 97,766 streaming audiovisual materials.

The WorldCat Discovery online catalog provides computer-supported identification of the holdings of the Cedar Crest library. The library system also provides an interface to electronic networks, including access to the Internet and 80 information databases. Affiliations with the LVAIC consortium and daily document delivery services link the resources of more than two million volumes for student and faculty study and research. The Library has network affiliation with LYRASIS and OCLC to extend its access to collections in libraries in the Lehigh Valley, the United States, and worldwide.

Administrative Assistant
Registrar’s Office

Cedar Crest College is seeking a detail-oriented, organized, customer focused Administrative Assistant to provide operational support the Registrar’s office. The Assistant is responsible for coordinating all office functions, assisting students, faculty and staff, scheduling of classes and classrooms, maintaining accurate student information files, and coordinating records according to regulatory, ethical and procedural guidelines.  The Assistant also responds to requests for transcripts, verifies transfer student data, inputs data into applicable systems, and communicates with students, faculty and staff regarding changes or issues.  In addition, the Assistant works collaboratively with others on campus to address and resolve issues or concerns.

Associate’s degree in an applicable discipline preferred; high school diploma or equivalent required.  Prior experience working in higher education required, preferably in a customer focused role. The successful Assistant must have excellent communication skills and demonstrated experience providing exceptional customer service. Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and time-management skills and demonstrated success with multi-tasking and successfully handling interruptions and unexpected events are essential.   The selected candidate will be proficient with applicable computer systems and software (knowledge of Jenzabar preferred).

Administrative Assistant
Institutional Advancement

Cedar Crest College is seeking a detail-oriented, organized, customer focused Administrative Assistant to provide operational support for our dynamic and busy Institutional Advancement department. The Assistant is responsible for providing administrative support to the Vice President and Directors including scheduling meetings with prospects, major donors and community leaders. The Assistant performs all necessary clerical functions such as greeting and directing visitors, opening department mail, answering the main telephone line, typing, assisting with mailings, photocopying, proofreading and maintaining accurate departmental files. The Assistant serves as the liaison for the Institute for Learning in Retirement and assists in program coordination. The Assistant also responds to requests for information, inputs data into applicable systems, prepares monthly reports and materials for Board meetings, Advancement Committee Meetings and department staff meetings. The Assistant updates donor records in the donor database and serves in a back-up capacity for the generation of database reports and list exports. In addition, the Assistant works collaboratively with others on campus to further the mission of the College and the department.

Associate’s degree in an applicable discipline preferred; high school diploma or equivalent required.  The successful candidate must have prior administrative support experience, excellent communication skills and demonstrated experience providing exceptional customer service. Groundskeeper/Mechanic
Full Time

Cedar Crest College has an excellent opportunity for an experienced groundskeeper/mechanic to be responsible for the upkeep, care and maintenance of the grounds on campus property throughout the year.  The groundskeeper/mechanic maintains an accessible, safe and aesthetically pleasing campus exterior, including landscape, hardscape, athletic fields and our nationally recognized campus arboretum.   The groundskeeper/mechanic also performs corrective and preventative maintenance on equipment and vehicles, as well as minor repairs.  The groundskeeper/mechanic is considered “essential personnel” and is required to provide various duties and maintenance services during and outside normal working hours and during institution closures; and duties associated with emergencies, scheduled and unscheduled events.

Requirements include at least three years of experience in the landscape profession, including prior experience in equipment and vehicle repairs and maintenance.  A high school diploma (or equivalent), a valid PA driver’s license and proficiency in specialized power equipment essential.   Familiarity with reading and understanding basic drawings, is also essential.  Current Pesticide Applicator’s License preferred.  Candidates must have demonstrated effective customer service, teamwork, time management and organizational skills.  Candidates must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted, tolerate exposure to outside weather conditions on a daily basis, climb ladders and scaffolding and work up to 50 feet off the ground.

Admissions Counselor

The Admissions Office at Cedar Crest College is seeking a results-oriented, energetic, detail oriented, full time Admissions Counselor with a commitment to providing quality service.  Responsibilities include recruiting qualified students, participating in and reporting on all aspects of the student recruitment and application evaluation process, developing relationships with guidance officers, prospective students and families in a geographic territory, contributing to the development and implementation of strategies in the admissions marketing plan and coordinating special recruitment projects.  Significant travel, including overnight, is required. Evening and weekend hours are expected.

A Bachelor’s degree and at least one year of experience in admissions recruiting, preferably in a private college setting, required.  Strong communication, organizational and analytical skills are essential, as is the ability to effectively relate to students and families.  Candidates must also have prior experience in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated effective recruiting, decision-making and problem-solving skills. A working knowledge of applicable technology, including Microsoft Office and Salesforce is desirable.  A valid driver’s license is required.

Administrative Assistant to the Chief Financial Officer/Chief Operating Officer and Human Resources Assistant

Cedar Crest College is seeking a full time Administrative Assistant (35 hours/week) to support the Chief Financial Officer/Chief Operating Officer and to serve as a Human Resources Assistant.  Under the direction of the CFO/COO, the successful candidate will perform complex administrative and clerical work, exercise independent judgment on a broad range of needs of the office, use multiple software applications and database systems, manage calendar of activities, correspondence and letter preparation, manage bookkeeping, and interact and communicate with board members, students, faculty, staff and guests. As Human Resources Assistant, the position provides support and assistance for human resources functions, including payroll, processing clearances, recruiting, onboarding, tracking and monitoring compliance with regulatory requirements and assisting employees as necessary, in addition to other HR functions. 

Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree required, along with basic knowledge of budgeting, accounting and payroll practices.  The successful candidate will have prior administrative support experience, excellent communication skills and demonstrated experience providing exceptional customer service. Director of Facilities Management

Cedar Crest College is seeking an experienced Director of Facilities Management who will be responsible for the development, operation, and maintenance of the facilities, including buildings and associated electrical and mechanical systems, utility systems to include water, natural gas and electricity, grounds, streets, sidewalks and athletic facilities.  Responsibilities also include project programming, conceptual design, total project cost estimating, and schedule development, in addition to working closely with College leadership, committees and stakeholders in assessing, qualifying and analyzing campus and facility needs and providing strategic and long term campus and facility planning services. The Director also provides leadership, direction and supervision to facilities and grounds staff and serves as the liaison between the College and outsourced custodial services. The Director reports to the Chief Financial Officer / Chief Operating Officer, serves as chair of the College’s safety committee, a member of the sustainability committee and is an ex-officio member of the Facilities and Property Committee of the Board of Trustees.

A Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.  A minimum of five years’ experience in the planning, management and operations of capital projects, in addition to successfully leading and motivating staff also required.  Demonstrated success in managing complex, substantial budgets, emergency responses, safety initiatives and multiple projects is essential.   The successful candidate must have exceptional communication and team building skills and be comfortable conducting presentations in an effective manner.  A proven track record of success in a collaborative, diverse environment in addition to proficiency with applicable technology is essential to the position.

Part-Time Campus Police Officer

Must be available for any shift. Prior Campus Police or law enforcement (Act 120) experience preferred. Act 235 certification required. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, a degree in criminal justice or equivalent experience. Position requires a background check, including criminal history, drug screening and a psychological evaluation.  The regular schedule will typically be an 8 hour shift and a minimum of 2 days per week. The individual may be required to work days, middles, nights, weekends and holidays, based upon staffing needs. Flexibility of work schedule mandatory.  Hourly rate is $15.00.

Part Time Lifeguards

Cedar Crest College’s unique Rodale Aquatic Center is seeking qualified lifeguards for our busy facility dedicated to fostering civic health and wellness in the community. The Aquatic Center is open 7 days a week, year round from 5:30 AM – 9:00 PM.

Lifeguards typically work four hour shifts and the Center can be flexible with scheduling, depending on availability. The typical work week is 15 – 20 hours total. Opportunities are available during the following part time shifts:

Monday through Friday 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM and 3:00 PM – 9:00 PM 
Saturdays 6:30 AM – 6:00 PM
Sundays 10:30 AM – 5:00 PM

Qualifications: Lifeguarding and CPR certifications are required to work at the Center. Guards with experience teaching swim lessons or the willingness to learn to instruct lessons preferred.

Part Time Fitness / Swim School Instructors

The Rodale Aquatic Center is seeking qualified swim school instructors and certified fitness instructors who will also serve as lifeguards. These positions will organize and instruct water based fitness programs and otherwise assist in assuring the overall safety of the Center. CPR, AED, Lifeguard, and First Aid certification required. Current certification in aquatic exercise or other fitness/aquatic based or personal training strongly preferred.
