Department Chair

Cedar Crest College is seeking a dynamic, entrepreneurial individual to chair the Department of Business, Management, and Economics and provide leadership for the growth of two major strategic initiatives: an undergraduate cooperative education program for the Business major and a recently launched Master’s in Business Administration program.  Reporting directly to the Provost, the Chair will be a proven leader and strategic thinker who will provide outstanding oversight and stewardship for the administrative, financial, and academic program components, and who will collaboratively develop a vision for the continued growth of the department.  This is a 12-month academic appointment beginning in January 2019, with an 18 credit teaching load per academic year. 

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications: (a) an earned doctorate or other ACBSP recognized doctoral degree in a business discipline from an accredited institution with a specialty in one of the teaching areas represented within the department, (b) a distinguished record of teaching and scholarship, (c) administrative experience in an academic unit, (d) excellent interpersonal and communication skills, (e) budget management skills, and (f) a demonstrated commitment to the educational and cultural needs of a diverse population.

Assistant Professor
Accounting and Finance

Cedar Crest College invites applications for the position of a non-tenure tracked position in Business, Management and Economics beginning in the Spring 2019 semester.
The responsibilities of this role include:

  • Teaching 4 courses or the equivalent of 12 credits per semester, both face-to-face and online at the undergraduate and master’s level
  • Advising students
  • Supporting curriculum and schedule changes in preparation for accreditation
  • Being actively engaged in service to the department and college, including attending all department meetings and all campus wide faculty meetings/workshops
  • Supporting the department at recruiting events
  • Maintaining a presence on campus during the day for students and at campus wide events; Maintaining office hours on campus at a minimum of 4 hours’ weekly, including one evening per week
  • Building relationships with the business community to foster student opportunities in the accounting and finance area with oversight of the accounting and investment clubs and post-bac CPA certificate
  • Other business department needs that are of priority during the academic year

Candidates should hold a terminal degree or ABD in Accounting, Finance or a Business discipline, preferably from an ACBSP accredited school, with at least five years of professional experience in the field.  Excellent communication, organizational, and planning skills are essential, as are exceptional interpersonal skills and effective time management.  Prior experience teaching at the college level, along with program and curriculum planning is strongly preferred.

Graduate Assistant – Track & Field
Part time

Cedar Crest College, an NCAA Division III member, is accepting applications for a graduate assistant for track & field.  The graduate assistant track & field coach will be responsible for assisting the head coach in all facets of the job: practice planning, meet preparation, recruiting responsibilities, fundraising and other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director. The GA will also assist in the day-to-day operations of the cross country program and athletic department including developing and implementing initiatives that best serve the student population. This position includes on campus housing for qualified applicants, 12 credits annually and an annual stipend.

A minimum of a bachelor’s degree, collegiate track & field experience, preferably in the sprint events, and acceptance to a Cedar Crest College graduate program are required. Strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills are preferred. In addition, a valid driver’s license, applicable clearances, CPR, First Aid and AED certifications are required.

Accounting Assistant

Cedar Crest College is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Accounting Assistant.  Duties include maintaining the College’s general ledger and accounting records, preparation of account reconciliations, analysis, and financial reporting. The successful candidate will process student payments, daily receipts, and daily cash reconciliations as well as prepare journal entries for month end and year end close and other accounting duties.  The candidate will also be responsible for banking functions, monthly reconciliation of College issued procurement cards and other special projects as required. 

A Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required, along with two years of relevant work experience.  The successful candidate must have excellent organizational, analytical and time-management skills with strong attention to detail in addition to exceptional communication and customer service skills.  The selected candidate will be proficient with applicable computer systems and software (particularly Excel, Access and Infomaker) and have a basic understanding of not-for-profit accounting.

Head Lacrosse Coach and Recreation and Wellness Coordinator

Cedar Crest College is seeking a Head Lacrosse Coach who will also serve as the Recreation and Wellness Coordinator.  The coach will develop, recruit and administer a competitive women’s lacrosse program consistent with the student-athlete philosophy of NCAA Division III athletics.   Coaches are also expected to develop, coordinate and manage an active recruitment and retention program for lacrosse student athletes. 

The Recreation and Wellness Coordinator develops and implements campus recreation programs and services that facilitate students transition to college, build campus community and promote school spirit.  This position also is responsible for creating and implementing programs for the purpose of educating and engaging students, faculty and staff in healthy lifestyle choices.

Coordinator of Student Activities

Cedar Crest College has a new opportunity for Coordinator of Student Activities to plan and execute activities for students, manage campus clubs and organizations and assist with managing student workers.  The Coordinator will plan and execute small and large scale campus events for students, including Fall Family weekend, Spring Fling, Trunk or Treat, Senior Week and other signature Cedar Crest traditions as well as support summer and August orientation programs.  The Coordinator also provides training and guidance for all club and organization executive board members, supervises student workers and serves as the college representative for the National Association of College Activities (NACA).  Evening, weekend and irregular hours are required as necessary for student activities and events.

Admissions Counselor Travel

Cedar Crest College is seeking Admissions Counselors to provide recruiting support to traditional admissions by traveling to identified schools in a region to attend college fairs, college visitation days/nights, and to represent the College in recruiting traditional aged students to the College. Head Softball Coach and Athletic Operations Coordinator
Full Time

Cedar Crest College is seeking a Head Softball Coach who will also serve as the athletic department Operations Coordinator. The primary responsibilities of this position will be to serve as an NCAA Division III Head Softball Coach, while also coordinating facility scheduling and management of all home game operations, as well as supervising assigned staff. Coaches are also expected to develop, coordinate and manage an active recruitment and retention program for student athletes.  This is a full-time, 12-month position, reporting to the Director of Athletics, Wellness and Recreation. 

A Bachelor's degree and at least two year’s prior experience coaching softball at the collegiate level are required. Candidates must also have demonstrated success at effectively recruiting and retaining student-athletes.  Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations necessary.  The successful candidate will have strong organizational, time management and communication skills in addition to a strong commitment to player and student development.   Current CPR, First Aid and AED certifications are also required.

Coordinator of the Writing Center and Tutoring Programs

Cedar Crest College is seeking a Coordinator of the Writing Center and Tutoring Programs, who will serve as a member of Academic Services and ensure the provision of high-quality learning support resources for students. The Coordinator will direct all functions of the Writing Center, provide individual tutoring in writing for students at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and teach Writing 100 College Writing and the College Writing Studio as assigned. The Coordinator is also responsible for managing, supervising, and assessing all other peer tutoring services, including walk-in and online peer tutors, and the Instructional Assistants. Nursing Tutor for International Students

Cedar Crest College is seeking a fulltime Tutor for International Students to provide tutoring and academic support services for international students enrolled in the Nursing program at Cedar Crest College. The Tutor for International Students tutors nursing students on didactic and clinical content, assists students in accessing other academic resources, and provides workshops or individual instruction on study skills, test-taking strategies, or specific academic topics as needed. The Tutor for International Students works closely with the International Student Academic Coach to support students through the transition from Intended Nursing to Nursing, and collaborates with faculty and staff to develop programs and services that promote success for international students in the Nursing program.

Qualified candidates will hold a bachelor’s degree in Nursing; Master’s degree or professional experience working as a nurse is preferred. Candidates must have the ability to work closely with students from diverse international backgrounds. Events Coordinator
Conference Services

Cedar Crest College has an exciting opportunity for an energetic individual to serve as Events Coordinator within conference services on campus.  The Coordinator plays an important role in raising the visibility and profile of the College by providing exceptional customer service to campus and conference center guests.  The Coordinator will maintain the reservation system for meetings, special events and conferences, facilitate and coordinate arrangements for all services and will work collaboratively with other departments to maximize customer satisfaction.  The Coordinator will also maintain the College’s ID and reservation systems and assist with the planning and oversight of camps and housing on campus during the summer. Some evening and weekend hours are required.

Academic Coach
International Students

Cedar Crest College is seeking an energetic Academic Coach to provide individualized academic coaching and support for international students in Nursing and other pre-professional healthcare programs through in-class assistance, workshops, directed learning activities, and other expanded learning opportunities. The Academic Coach will meet regularly with assigned students to develop academic success plans, provide direct coaching in academic skills, monitor student progress, assess students’ skills, promote student accountability, and develop students’ problem-solving skills. The Academic Coach will collaborate with faculty and staff to develop programs and services that promote success for international students in Nursing and other pre-professional healthcare programs and work closely with other staff in Academic Services to develop and offer additional academic support services for international students pursing Nursing and other pre-professional healthcare programs.

Academic Advisor -
Intended Nursing

Cedar Crest College offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced advisor to provide direct support to students pursing undergraduate degrees in the College’s active and expanding nursing program.  The Advisor will provide academic advising and monitoring in a timely, proactive and supportive manner for Intended Nursing students, and collaborates regularly with the faculty and staff of the Nursing department to admit students into the Nursing program. This position also serves as the liaison for faculty and staff on strategies to support Intended Nursing students.  The Academic Advisor reports to the Director of Student Success and Retention within Academic Services. One evening a week is required for the position, as is an occasional weekend.

A Bachelor’s degree in an applicable discipline is required; Master’s degree preferred.  At least three years related experience in an educational setting is also required, with significant experience providing support services for nursing or health related students.   The successful candidate must have demonstrated knowledge of academic advising theory and principles as well as demonstrated proficiency with applicable technology and systems (on multiple platforms), including social media.  Strong and effective communication, leadership, organizational, interpersonal and customer service skills are critical to the position. Cedar Crest College is accepting applications for a graduate assistant (GA) tennis coach who will be responsible for assisting the head coach in all facets of the position:  practice planning, game preparation, recruiting, and fundraising.  The GA will assist in player development on an individual and team basis, recognize individual talent for recruiting specific to team requirements through ongoing assessment of team performance, and inform players of their responsibilities, duties, and roles. The GA will also assist in the day-to-day operations of the athletic program including developing and implementing initiatives that best serve the student population. The position includes on campus housing (for eligible candidates), 12 credits annually and an annual stipend.

A Bachelor's degree and prior collegiate level tennis playing or coaching experience is required. Knowledge of NCAA rules and acceptance in to a graduate program at Cedar Crest are also required. Graduate Assistant – Swim Coach

A minimum of a bachelor’s degree, collegiate swimming experience and acceptance to a Cedar Crest College graduate program are required. Strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills are preferred. In addition, a valid driver’s license, applicable clearances, CPR, First Aid and AED certifications are required.

GROUNDS SUPERVISOR

Cedar Crest College has an excellent opportunity for an experienced grounds person to supervise the overall maintenance and presentation of the campus exterior including landscape, hardscape, athletic fields and our nationally recognized campus arboretum.   The Grounds Supervisor serves as a working supervisor and provides daily oversight and delegation of work to the grounds team, in addition to working collaboratively with other supervisors to ensure work priorities are met, resources are being allocated properly, work orders are completed and customers receive follow up on their requests. The Grounds Supervisor conducts daily and long-range planning and assists the Director of Facilities in capital planning and renewal. The Grounds Supervisor also plans, resources and executes projects as assigned to provide the best possible physical environment for education and student living. The Grounds Supervisor is considered “essential personnel” and is required to provide various duties and maintenance services during and outside normal working hours and during institution closures; and duties associated with emergencies, scheduled and unscheduled events.

Requirements include at least eight years of experience in the landscape profession with three years in a supervisory capacity; degree in landscape, hardscape botany or horticulture strongly preferred. Valid PA driver’s license, proficiency in specialized power equipment and current Pesticide Applicator’s License required.  Candidates must have demonstrated effective customer service, teamwork, interpersonal, time management and organizational skills.  Candidates must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted, tolerate exposure to outside weather conditions on a daily basis, climb ladders and scaffolding and work up to 50 feet off the ground.

Aquatic Specialist –Lifeguard/Swim Instructor

The Rodale Aquatic Center, located on the campus of Cedar Crest College, is seeking a qualified full time, certified lifeguard who will also serve as a swim school instructor.  This position will instruct swim classes, lifeguard, schedule and provide direction to Center lifeguards and otherwise assist in assuring the overall safety of the Center. 

A Bachelor’s degree in related field (recreation, sports management, etc.) preferred, current certification as a lifeguard, and in CPR, AED and First Aid required.  Prior experience in an aquatic facility and familiarity with scheduling are also required.  Exceptional time management, organizational, interpersonal and customer service skills are essential.  Qualified candidates must be available to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends while the Center is operational.

LIFEGUARDS
Rodale Aquatic Center (RAC)
at Cedar Crest College

Our pleasant and unique Aquatic Center is seeking qualified lifeguards for our busy facility dedicated to fostering civic health and wellness in the community. The Aquatic Center is open 7 days a week, year round from 5:30 AM – 9:00 PM.

Lifeguards typically work four hour shifts and the Center can be flexible with scheduling, depending on availability. The typical work week is 15 – 20 hours total. Opportunities are available during the following part time shifts:

Monday through Friday 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM and 3:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Saturdays 6:30 AM – 1:00 PM
Sundays 10:30 AM – 5:00 PM

Qualifications: Lifeguarding and CPR certifications are required to work at the Center. Guards with experience teaching swim lessons or the willingness to learn to instruct lessons preferred.
