Visiting Professor of Mathematics

The Department of Mathematics at Cedar Crest College invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor position to begin August 2019.   This is a full-time, one year position.  Responsibilities include teaching mathematics at all levels, student advising, continuation of scholarly activity, and participation in the activities of the department and college. Visiting Professor

Fall 2019

Cedar Crest College invites applications for the position of Visiting Professor in Education for the 2019-2020 academic year. The primary teaching responsibility includes early childhood and elementary courses of 12 credits per fall and spring semester. This position is a full-time, nine-month visiting appointment beginning in Fall 2019. Responsibilities include student advising, service to the Department and College, and being involved in the campus community. Strong commitment to both graduate and undergraduate programs, with an interest in collaboratively contributing to the Education Department and the College, is expected.

Qualified applicants must have a minimum of a master’s degree in education or another relevant field from an accredited institution, although a doctoral degree is preferred.  A minimum of five-years teaching experience at the elementary level is required. Assistant Professor of Nutrition
Full Time, Renewable 12-Month Faculty Position

The Department of Nutrition at Cedar Crest College invites applications for a full-time, twelve-month faculty position (renewable, non-tenure track) to begin fall semester 2019. The Nutrition Department houses ACEND-accredited DPD, DI, and Master in Nutrition degree programs, as well as the Allen Center for Nutrition (a prominent nutrition education and community resource).  The primary teaching responsibilities include a fully online Master in Nutrition program, teaching graduate courses and advising graduate students. The Master in Nutrition is a year-round, fully online coeducational program with a focus in community nutrition program planning and assessment. Additional teaching responsibilities may include courses in the department’s DI and DPD. The program plans to expand the Master’s degree with the addition of a thesis track; therefore, we are seeking candidates who demonstrate a commitment to research that translates into mentoring the next generation of scholars.

Candidates must have a terminal degree in Nutrition, or a related field, and be a credentialed RDN with CDR. Expertise in community nutrition, public health, or related field is strongly preferred.  The successful candidate will have prior experience in online teaching at the college level, research, and service that has prepared them to contribute to the department’s commitment to meeting our aspirational goals as well as the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and ACENDs vision for the future of dietetics education and practice.  Excellent communication, organizational, and planning skills are essential, as are exceptional interpersonal skills and effective time management.

Assistant Professor
Accounting and Finance

Cedar Crest College invites applications for the position of a non-tenure tracked position in Business, Management and Economics beginning in the Fall 2019 semester.
The responsibilities of this role include:

  • Teaching 4 courses or the equivalent of 12 credits per semester, both face-to-face and online at the undergraduate and master’s level
  • Advising students
  • Supporting curriculum and schedule changes in preparation for accreditation
  • Being actively engaged in service to the department and college, including attending all department meetings and all campus wide faculty meetings/workshops

Pediatrics

Director of the Doctor of Nursing Practice – Family Nurse Practitioner Program

Admissions Counselor Travel
Temporary

Cedar Crest College is seeking an Admissions Counselor to provide recruiting support to traditional admissions by traveling to identified schools in a region to attend college fairs, college visitation days/nights, and to represent the College in recruiting traditional aged students to the College. The Admissions Counselor Travel will have an assigned territory and communicate with prospective students and their families, as well as guidance counselors and serve as the liaison with the traditional admissions team.  The Admissions Counselor Travel will participate in the student recruitment process, effectively promoting the College and managing student inquiries to achieve enrollment objectives.   This is a temporary position and is paid a stipend.

Communications and Content Manager

Cedar Crest College is seeking a Communications and Content Manager to play an important role in raising the visibility and profile of the College. Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Communications, this individual will be an innovative, motivated self-starter who will assist with implementing the College’s communications strategy to drive enrollment and brand awareness. 

The Communications and Content Manager will be responsible for:

  • Managing the College’s public relations efforts through press releases and direct contact with media; Proactively developing story ideas and pitching them to local, regional and national media; Cultivating positive professional relationships with media contacts; Monitoring media for placements and story trends and providing regular reports
  • Creating and implementing an engaging social media strategy that reflects the College’s institutional personality; Monitoring social media accounts and reporting results
  • Researching, composing and curating the Cedar Crest story across platforms including managing a robust editorial calendar
  • Collaborating with enrollment teams to plan and develop a comprehensive communications strategy to support recruitment efforts
  • Ensuring that the College’s faculty and staff expert profiles are kept current, and seeking out opportunities to showcase their expertise

Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in English, public relations, journalism, communications or marketing, and a minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in journalism and/or media relations. The successful candidate must demonstrate a high level of professionalism and act with poise, confidence and diplomacy when representing the College and the office among colleagues, media and the public. Strong writing and editing skills with a sense of design in organizing, packaging and effectively presenting content for print, web and other media is essential. Superior attention to detail and accuracy for proofreading materials and knowledge of AP and Chicago Style are highly desirable. Effective project management skills with demonstrated ability to set timelines, map milestones, meet deadlines and juggle multiple projects with competing priorities required. Qualified candidates must have a firm understanding of web technologies and applications, including social networking, social media tools and current communication trends. Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills along with a proven capacity for working both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment are also necessary for success. CAMPUS POLICE
Full Time Position

Cedar Crest College has an excellent opportunity for an experienced law enforcement professional to join our campus police team!  The College’s commissioned officers provide for the safety and welfare of the entire campus community, including our residential housing, on a 24 hour basis, 7 days a week.  Basic duties include patrolling assigned areas, enforcing laws, policies and regulations, investigating crimes and accidents, responding to emergencies or other calls for service, preparing reports and providing safety education. 

  • Full-time Officer: Night shift (Midnight – 8 AM)

 A degree in criminal justice and/or prior experience in law enforcement (Act 120), preferred.  Act 235 certification is required. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a commitment to campus community interaction and safety education.   Position requires a background check, including criminal history, drug screening and a psychological evaluation.

Graduate Assistant
Track & Field/Cross Country
Part time

Cedar Crest College, an NCAA Division III member, is accepting applications for a graduate assistant track & field/cross country, with an emphasis on the sprints and jumps events.  The graduate assistant/coach will be responsible for assisting the head coach in all facets of the job. Responsibilities will include: practice planning, meet preparation, recruiting responsibilities, fundraising and other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director. The GA will also assist in the day-to-day operations of the athletic program including developing and implementing initiatives that best serve the student population. This position includes shared on campus housing, 12 credits annually and an annual stipend of $2,000.00.

A minimum of a bachelor’s degree, collegiate track & field or cross country experience and acceptance to a Cedar Crest College graduate program are required. Strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills are preferred. In addition, a valid driver’s license, applicable clearances, CPR, First Aid and AED certifications are required.

Registration Technology Specialist
Registrar’s Office

Cedar Crest College is seeking a detail-oriented, organized, customer focused individual to serve as Registration Technology Specialist in our busy Registrar’s office. The Specialist provides technological support for degree audit systems that are utilized within the Registrar’s Office, (Jenzabar and Access) assuring that degree requirements, registration processes, data management, and other college academic requirements are accurate and up to date.  The Specialist also evaluates transcripts, awards credit based on history, prepares Statements of Advanced Standing (SAS), and processes all degree requirement exceptions to academic programs to ensure accuracy of degree requirements, liberal arts curriculum data, and other college requirements. In addition, the Specialist works collaboratively with others on campus to address and resolve issues or concerns.

Bachelor’s degree in an applicable discipline required.  Prior experience working in higher education required, preferably in a customer focused role. The successful candidate must have excellent organization and time management skills, including strong attention to detail and the ability to successfully manage multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize effectively. Effective project management and critical thinking skills with a commitment to accuracy, efficiency and confidentiality are also essential.  Strong interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written, along with a focus on providing exceptional customer service required. Simulation Center Technician

Cedar Crest College invites applications for an experienced technician to maintain the College’s nursing laboratory and simulation center, including preparing and setting up for student and faculty use, cleaning up, conducting routine maintenance, and serving as simulation operator for various scenarios in clinical education.  Our Nursing Simulation Center is one of the best-equipped in the region, with three state-of-the-art multimedia labs, highly specialized simulation manikins, a community health lab that replicates a home environment and two simulation centers with streaming video. The technician assists with scheduling of students and faculty in the Simulation Center, maintains adequate equipment and inventory and supports the Center Manager in promoting and marketing the center. 

A high school diploma (or equivalent) required; Associate’s degree in a technology or health related field preferred.  Prior experience in a clinical or healthcare environment and familiarity with troubleshooting hardware and software applications strongly preferred.  Demonstrated success with multi-tasking in an active and changing environment is essential as is the ability to assess, troubleshoot and remedy equipment issues in a timely manner.  Exceptional communication and customer relations skills as well as effective organizational, time management and planning skills are essential.  Strong interpersonal, team building, and relationship building skills, particularly with diverse populations required.  A commitment to confidentiality and providing quality and effective nursing simulation education is also essential.

Assistant Director of Residential Education and Leadership

Cedar Crest College welcomes applications from qualified candidates for an Assistant Director of Residential Education and Leadership to provide supervision and leadership to an all women’s residence area and a staff of Resident Advisors (RAs).  The Assistant Director is responsible for coordinating programming efforts, opening and closing buildings and room change requests as well as social programming efforts.  The Assistant Director also serves as a conduct hearing officer and participates in the on-call duty rotation.  This is a 12 month, full time live in position within student affairs and includes a furnished apartment, internet access and a board plan while classes are in session, reserved parking, access to pool and fitness center, and free semi-private laundry facility. 

The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in an applicable field (master’s degree preferred) along with prior experience or demonstrated interest in residence life at the collegiate level and experience working with culturally diverse populations.  Demonstrated initiative and creativity in facilitating workshops and trainings required.  Excellent team building, interpersonal and communication skills are essential, in addition to strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills.  Candidates must be able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment. Administrative Assistant
Nursing

Cedar Crest College is seeking a detail-oriented, organized, customer focused Administrative Assistant to provide support for our busy Nursing department. The Assistant is responsible for providing support to faculty and staff for graduate programs, serving as the liaison with other administrative offices and for providing student services appropriate to the department function. The Assistant provides organization and support for compliance with accrediting bodies, maintains and updates faculty and staff files, schedules and coordinates testing, classroom requests, photos and departmental functions, and manages faculty compliance with clinical agency requirements.

Minimum of an Associate’s degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred.  The successful Assistant will have prior administrative support experience, excellent communication skills and demonstrated experience providing exceptional customer service. MAINTENANCE MANAGER

Cedar Crest College has an excellent opportunity for an experienced Maintenance Manager to manage plant and mechanical operations and maintenance of all campus facilities, including preventative maintenance, supervision of trades staff, record keeping functions and planning and coordination of daily work and maintenance related projects.  The Maintenance Manager serves as a working manager and provides daily oversight and delegation of work to the team, in addition to working collaboratively with other supervisors to ensure work priorities are met, resources are being allocated properly, work orders are completed and customers receive follow up on their requests. The Manager conducts daily and long-range planning and assists the Director of Facilities in capital planning and renewal. The Manager also plans, resources and executes projects as assigned to provide the best possible physical environment for education and student living. The Manager is considered “essential personnel” and is required to provide various duties and maintenance services during and outside normal working hours and during institution closures; and duties associated with emergencies, scheduled and unscheduled events.

Requirements include at least seven years of experience in a trade profession with at least two years of experience effectively supervising trades staff (HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, electrical and locksmith), preferably in a higher education or commercial setting. Strong knowledge of building trades, operations and maintenance practices and methods along with experience with preventive maintenance scheduling and documentation required. Familiarity with and understanding of building construction, codes, regulations and safety practices required.   High school diploma required; applicable Bachelor’s degree preferred.  Valid PA driver’s license required. Part-Time Campus Police Officer

Full Time Aquatic Specialist

The Rodale Aquatic Center is seeking a qualified full time aquatic specialist to instruct aquatic fitness classes, assist athletes, teach swim lessons, maintain lifeguard schedules, and assist with general office functions.  This position will develop, organize and instruct water based fitness programs and swim lessons, schedule and provide direction to instructors and otherwise assist in assuring the overall safety of the Center. 

A Bachelor’s degree in related field (recreation, sports management, etc.) preferred, current certification in aquatic exercise or other fitness/aquatic based or personal training strongly preferred.  CPR, AED and First Aid certification required; lifeguard certification preferred.  Prior experience in an aquatic facility with fitness classes and familiarity with Aquatic Exercise Association or other aquatic fitness training affiliations desirable.  Exceptional time management, organizational, interpersonal and customer service skills are essential.  Qualified candidates must be available to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends while the Center is operational.

Part Time Lifeguards

Cedar Crest College’s unique Rodale Aquatic Center is seeking qualified lifeguards for our busy facility dedicated to fostering civic health and wellness in the community. The Aquatic Center is open 7 days a week, year round from 5:30 AM – 9:00 PM.

Lifeguards typically work four hour shifts and the Center can be flexible with scheduling, depending on availability. The typical work week is 15 – 20 hours total. Opportunities are available during the following part time shifts:

Monday through Friday 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM and 3:00 PM – 9:00 PM 
Saturdays 6:30 AM – 6:00 PM
Sundays 10:30 AM – 5:00 PM

Qualifications: Lifeguarding and CPR certifications are required to work at the Center. Guards with experience teaching swim lessons or the willingness to learn to instruct lessons preferred.
