Visiting Professor of Mathematics

The Department of Mathematics at Cedar Crest College invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor position to begin August 2019.   This is a full-time, one year position.  Responsibilities include teaching mathematics at all levels, student advising, continuation of scholarly activity, and participation in the activities of the department and college. Business Program

School of Nursing Faculty Positions

Director of Graduate Nursing Programs

The School of Nursing at Cedar Crest College is currently accepting applications for a qualified nursing professional committed to leading the education of graduate level nurses, including nurse practitioners in our newly accredited Doctor of Nursing Practice and nurse practitioner programs (Family and Adult Gerontology Acute Care). The Director will have oversight over all graduate nursing programs including the MSN, DNP, BSN-DNP and PMCs and work collaboratively with the Assistant Director of Graduate Nursing Programs. Programs include Nurse Educator, Nurse Administrator, and Nurse Practitioner tracks.

Our nursing program has a long tradition of excellence in nursing education and the creation of the School of Nursing has allowed us to expand our educational offerings and opportunities for qualified faculty.

This is a full time, 12 month tenure track position with the option of an accelerated path to tenure with prior academic experience. 

Requirements:  The Director should be a DNP prepared nurse practitioner with national certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner or Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, however, other nursing specialties will be considered. Candidate should also have experience with directing/leading DNP projects and prior experience in a clinical setting as well as experience teaching in a master’s or doctoral nursing program.

Head Field Hockey Coach and Recruiting Coordinator
Full Time

Cedar Crest College is seeking a Head Field Hockey Coach who will also serve as the College’s Recruiting Coordinator. The coach will develop, recruit and administer a competitive women’s field hockey program consistent with the student-athlete philosophy of NCAA Division III athletics. Coaches are also expected to develop, coordinate and manage an active recruitment and retention program for field hockey student athletes. 

The Recruiting Coordinator monitors recruiting efforts of the athletic department and serves as the direct liaison with the Office of Admissions. Activities such as overnight visits and traditional visits are coordinated through this position as is athletics staff representation at all admissions day events on campus including Junior Preview Days, Open Houses and orientations.

A Bachelor's degree and prior experience coaching field hockey at the college level is required. Candidates must also have demonstrated success at effectively recruiting and retaining student-athletes. Excellent communication, organizational and leadership skills are essential.  CPR, First Aid and AED certifications are also required.

Director of Facilities Management

Cedar Crest College is seeking an experienced Director of Facilities Management who will be responsible for the development, operation, and maintenance of the facilities, including buildings and associated electrical and mechanical systems, utility systems to include water, natural gas and electricity, grounds, streets, sidewalks and athletic facilities.  Responsibilities also include project programming, conceptual design, total project cost estimating, and schedule development, in addition to working closely with College leadership, committees and stakeholders in assessing, qualifying and analyzing campus and facility needs and providing strategic and long term campus and facility planning services. The Director also provides leadership, direction and supervision to facilities and grounds staff and serves as the liaison between the College and outsourced custodial services. The Director reports to the Chief Financial Officer / Chief Operating Officer, serves as chair of the College’s safety committee, a member of the sustainability committee and is an ex-officio member of the Facilities and Property Committee of the Board of Trustees.

A Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.  A minimum of five years’ experience in the planning, management and operations of capital projects, in addition to successfully leading and motivating staff also required.  Demonstrated success in managing complex, substantial budgets, emergency responses, safety initiatives and multiple projects is essential.   The successful candidate must have exceptional communication and team building skills and be comfortable conducting presentations in an effective manner.  A proven track record of success in a collaborative, diverse environment in addition to proficiency with applicable technology is essential to the position.

Database Applications Administrator

Cedar Crest College is seeking a detail-oriented, organized individual to serve as Database Applications Administrator within Information Technology on campus. The Administrator is responsible for the performance and reliability of college wide database applications and their reliant databases. The Administrator provides support and technical expertise in the use of data related software packages that are used to track college related data, meet government and institutional reporting requirements, and assists the campus community with creating, maintaining, and supporting data entry, storage and reporting standards within applicable systems.  The Administrator is also responsible for maintaining security of college databases and related applications, performing permission audits and for assuring databases are maintained, supported and backed up on a regular basis. 

Bachelor’s degree in a computer science, information systems or related field required, along with two years of experience working with and maintaining server based databases.  Experience working with databases in Active Directory and expertise in Microsoft SQL Server, SQL queries, SQL reporting, Microsoft Access, Excel, and familiarity with Infomaker, Izenda and other reporting/Business Intelligence tools also required.  The successful candidate must have excellent organization and time management skills, including strong attention to detail and the ability to successfully manage multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize effectively. Special Events Coordinator
For the Office of Institutional Advancement

Cedar Crest College offers an outstanding opportunity for a highly motivated and collaborative individual to join a fast paced development team. The Special Events Coordinator leads and directs signature fundraising events, stewardship events and cultivation events for the department.

This individual is responsible for planning, developing, coordinating and executing all aspects of special events including establishing goals, managing event budgets, planning and executing meetings, soliciting corporate sponsorships/advertisements, negotiating contracts, securing volunteers, and arranging logistical details related to event materials, speakers, catering, facilities, technology and audiovisual equipment. This individual will manage event revenue enhancement initiatives including auctions, raffles and sweepstakes related to event fundraising. The individual will maintain assigned donor/constituent records in the department’s donor database.

The successful candidate will be a self-starter and innovative thinker with strong interpersonal, organizational, verbal and written communications skills along with a positive attitude, good sense of humor and a desire to work in a goal – oriented environment.  A demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines is also critical to success. 

A Bachelor’s degree and at least two years’ experience of demonstrated success in a fundraising environment as well as prior experience with proven ability to manage special events from inception through execution are required. Professional Tutor for Nursing Students

Cedar Crest is seeking a Professional Tutor to provide tutoring and academic support services for students (traditional, adult and online) enrolled in the undergraduate Nursing program. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with Academic Services staff and Nursing faculty to promote student success through outreach to students experiencing academic difficulty, provision of tutoring for program content, workshop development and implementation, and individual or small group instruction on study and test taking strategies or other related academic topics. The tutor will also assist students by making referrals to appropriate academic and non-academic college resources. Core hours for this staff position are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; however, scheduled hours may vary by semester and may include evening and weekend hours, as necessary, to meet student needs.

Qualified candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN). Professional experience working as a Registered Nurse, tutoring in nursing or health sciences at the college level, and working with diverse populations are strongly preferred.  Candidates must have excellent communication skills, be able to work in a fast-paced environment, and have the desire and ability to work with diverse students with a wide range of academic needs.  Candidates should also have strong attention to detail with exceptional organizational and time-management skills and demonstrated success with multi-tasking and successfully handling interruptions and unexpected events.

Administrative Assistant

Cedar Crest College is seeking a part time Administrative Assistant for the Psychology Department to assist in the daily operations and administration of the department, support the chair and faculty, serve as a liaison between the department and other administrative offices and provide student services appropriate to the departmental function. The successful candidate will perform multiple tasks including: serving as the primary contact for the department; providing excellent customer service; supervising work study students; and, developing and maintaining databases.  Requirements include proficiency in managing and prioritizing multiple tasks, demonstrating good judgment and taking initiative; Strong proficiency in word processing with emphasis on Microsoft Word, Excel and Publisher required with the ability to learn new technology, systems and programs. 

Candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of three years experience in an office/administrative setting. Bachelor’s degree and prior experience in a higher education setting preferred.
This position is a 10 month, part-time position; 20 hours per week; Schedule will be 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, 3 or 4 days per week and 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, 1 or 2 days per week, Monday through Friday.  Specific schedule is somewhat flexible.

Graduate Assistant – Swim Coach

Admissions Counselor Travel
Temporary

Cedar Crest College is seeking an Admissions Counselor to provide recruiting support to traditional admissions by traveling to identified schools in a region to attend college fairs, college visitation days/nights, and to represent the College in recruiting traditional aged students to the College. The Admissions Counselor Travel will have an assigned territory and communicate with prospective students and their families, as well as guidance counselors and serve as the liaison with the traditional admissions team.  The Admissions Counselor Travel will participate in the student recruitment process, effectively promoting the College and managing student inquiries to achieve enrollment objectives.   This is a temporary position and is paid a stipend.

MAINTENANCE MANAGER
Full Time

Cedar Crest College has an excellent opportunity for an experienced Maintenance Manager to manage plant and mechanical operations and maintenance of all campus facilities, including preventative maintenance, supervision of trades staff, record keeping functions and planning and coordination of daily work and maintenance related projects.  The Maintenance Manager serves as a working manager and provides daily oversight and delegation of work to the team, in addition to working collaboratively with other supervisors to ensure work priorities are met, resources are being allocated properly, work orders are completed and customers receive follow up on their requests. The Manager conducts daily and long-range planning and assists the Director of Facilities in capital planning and renewal. The Manager also plans, resources and executes projects as assigned to provide the best possible physical environment for education and student living. The Manager is considered “essential personnel” and is required to provide various duties and maintenance services during and outside normal working hours and during institution closures; and duties associated with emergencies, scheduled and unscheduled events.

Requirements include at least seven years of experience in a trade profession with at least two years of experience effectively supervising trades staff (HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, electrical and locksmith), preferably in a higher education or commercial setting. Strong knowledge of building trades, operations and maintenance practices and methods along with experience with preventive maintenance scheduling and documentation required. Familiarity with and understanding of building construction, codes, regulations and safety practices required.   High school diploma required; applicable Bachelor’s degree preferred.  Valid PA driver’s license required. Candidates must have demonstrated effective communication, customer service, teamwork, interpersonal, time management and organizational skills.  Candidates must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted, tolerate exposure to various conditions, climb ladders and scaffolding, work up to 50 feet off the ground, be able and available to independently travel to various locations on and off campus and be available to work evenings and weekends as necessary for departmental and campus operations.

Part-Time Campus Police Officer

Must be available for any shift. Prior Campus Police or law enforcement (Act 120) experience preferred. Act 235 certification required. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, a degree in criminal justice or equivalent experience. Position requires a background check, including criminal history, drug screening and a psychological evaluation.  The regular schedule will typically be an 8 hour shift and a minimum of 2 days per week. The individual may be required to work days, middles, nights, weekends and holidays, based upon staffing needs. Flexibility of work schedule mandatory.  Hourly rate is $15.00.

Full Time Aquatic Specialist

The Rodale Aquatic Center is seeking a qualified full time aquatic specialist to instruct aquatic fitness classes, assist athletes, teach swim lessons, maintain lifeguard schedules, and assist with general office functions.  This position will develop, organize and instruct water based fitness programs and swim lessons, schedule and provide direction to instructors and otherwise assist in assuring the overall safety of the Center. 

A Bachelor’s degree in related field (recreation, sports management, etc.) preferred, current certification in aquatic exercise or other fitness/aquatic based or personal training strongly preferred.  CPR, AED and First Aid certification required; lifeguard certification preferred.  Prior experience in an aquatic facility with fitness classes and familiarity with Aquatic Exercise Association or other aquatic fitness training affiliations desirable.  Exceptional time management, organizational, interpersonal and customer service skills are essential.  Qualified candidates must be available to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends while the Center is operational.

Part Time Lifeguards

Cedar Crest College’s unique Rodale Aquatic Center is seeking qualified lifeguards for our busy facility dedicated to fostering civic health and wellness in the community. The Aquatic Center is open 7 days a week, year round from 5:30 AM – 9:00 PM.

Lifeguards typically work four hour shifts and the Center can be flexible with scheduling, depending on availability. The typical work week is 15 – 20 hours total. Opportunities are available during the following part time shifts:

Monday through Friday 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM and 3:00 PM – 9:00 PM 
Saturdays 6:30 AM – 6:00 PM
Sundays 10:30 AM – 5:00 PM

Qualifications: Lifeguarding and CPR certifications are required to work at the Center. Guards with experience teaching swim lessons or the willingness to learn to instruct lessons preferred.

Part Time Fitness / Swim School Instructors

The Rodale Aquatic Center is seeking qualified swim school instructors and certified fitness instructors who will also serve as lifeguards. These positions will organize and instruct water based fitness programs and otherwise assist in assuring the overall safety of the Center. CPR, AED, Lifeguard, and First Aid certification required. Current certification in aquatic exercise or other fitness/aquatic based or personal training strongly preferred.
