Creative Writing - Fiction

Cedar Crest College seeks a published fiction writer to teach an undergraduate advanced fiction course. As a special topics course, the applicant can propose a topic of her or his specialty. The course runs in spring 2019 on Wednesday evenings, 6:30 - 9:00 p.m.

Business Program
Adjunct Faculty

Applications are invited for adjunct faculty to teach evening, weekend, and online undergraduate and graduate courses in one or more of the following business subjects:  Human Resources, Health Care Management, Operations/Supply Chain Management, Finance, and Marketing.  Candidates must demonstrate teaching excellence while being student focused and integrate current events and technology into the learning environment.  Faculty are required to hold office hours, one hour for each class meeting.

School of Nursing Faculty Positions

Nursing Learning Resource Center Coordinator  

Cedar Crest College invites applications for an experienced nursing professional to coordinate the daily operations of our $1.8 million renovated nursing lab. Our Learning Resource Center is one of the best-equipped in the region, with three state-of-the-art multimedia labs, highly specialized simulation manikins, a community health lab that replicates a home environment and two simulation centers with streaming video. This position schedules and coordinates student and faculty usage of the nursing labs and simulation center, facilitates development and integration of simulation into the nursing curriculum, functions as a resource person to faculty and students, develops strategies to aid in professional development and facilitates skill acquisition for nursing students The Coordinator works collaboratively within the School of Nursing to advance nursing education at all levels and works to develop new techniques and procedures to meet the changing needs of nursing education.

Current, active, licensure as an RN in PA is required, as is a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN). Prior experience in a simulation or lab environment and critical care strongly preferred as is proficiency with using technology and systems. Demonstrated success with multi-tasking in an active and changing environment is essential.  Exceptional communication and customer relations skills as well as effective organizational, time management and planning skills are essential.  Strong interpersonal, team building, and relationship building skills, particularly with diverse populations required. A commitment to providing quality and effective nursing education is also essential.

The newly established School of Nursing at Cedar Crest College is currently accepting applications for full-time, 9 month undergraduate and graduate faculty positions in the Nursing Department. Our nursing program has a long tradition of excellence in nursing education and the creation of the School of Nursing has allowed us to expand our educational offerings and opportunities for qualified faculty. Academic Advisor

Cedar Crest College is accepting applications for the position of Academic Advisor.   This Academic Advisor reports to the Director of Academic Advising and plays an integral role in the success and retention of undergraduate students.  This includes meeting with prospective students, advising and enrolling new students, and providing academic advising and program support for selected populations of current students in the following areas: Nursing, Health Sciences, Business, and Education. Evening hours two nights a week and occasional weekend hours are required in this role.

The successful candidate will have a Master’s degree in an applicable field and experience as an academic advisor for both traditional-aged and adult students, providing individualized support for first-generation and diverse populations in high-demand majors. Strong and effective communication, analytical, organizational, interpersonal and customer service skills are critical to the position. Assistant to the President

Cedar Crest College is seeking an energetic Assistant to the President responsible for performing a broad range of duties associated with the proper operation and smooth functioning of the President’s office and residence.  The Assistant works closely with the President and performs complex administrative and clerical work, exercises independent judgment in relieving the President of administrative detail; assists in the maintenance of a positive image of the President’s Office throughout the campus community; supervises work study students; works closely with the Cabinet; manages external presidential relations, calendar of activities, travel arrangements, and composes correspondence.  This unique opportunity requires discretion, confidentiality and the ability to anticipate needs in collaboration with the President.

Cedar Crest College is seeking a full time Administrative Assistant to coordinate the daily operations of our general services, procurement, facilities and campus police departments.  Responsibilities include the administration of the College’s p-card program, scheduling and driver notifications/compliance, tracking of expenses and invoices, travel/expense/p-card report submissions, tracking of utility usage, work order administration and follow up, project documentation, maintaining ticket citations, assisting in the preparation of reports, coordinating special events, obtaining permits and other general office duties.  This is a full time, benefit eligible, position.  

The successful candidate must possess excellent interpersonal, customer relations and communication skills, as well as exceptional organizational and time management skills with a strong attention to detail and accuracy.  Proficiency with applicable software (Microsoft office) and technology is required as is a demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member in an industrious environment. DEAN OF STUDENTS

Cedar Crest College welcomes applications from qualified candidates for a Dean of Students to provide leadership and oversight for student affairs activities of the College, specifically for a broad range of student development services including residence life, career planning, community service, counseling services, health services, student government and cultural and educational programming.  The Dean of Students reports to the Vice President of Student Affairs and Traditional Enrollment, collaboratively working to ensure the College is developing and promoting a deeply engaged traditional undergraduate experience that implements key components of the College’s Strategic Plan. This include a Student Employment Center, serving under resourced students and creating a vibrant campus community.  The Dean of Students supervises the following areas:  Residence Life and Community Standards, Career Development, Community Service, First and Second Year Experiences, and Health and Counseling Services. 

The successful candidate will have a master’s degree in higher education or a related field, and have a minimum of five years’ experience at a senior level in student affairs (preferably at a small liberal arts college).  A thorough understanding of the intricacies and organizational management of student affairs is required, as is a proven track record of effectively leading teams in a diverse organization and demonstrated initiative in dealing with complex and sensitive issues, including retention and persistence. Qualified candidates must have experience working with culturally diverse populations, involvement as a leader within the campus community and demonstrated ability to plan strategically in dynamic, diverse and mission-driven college environment.    Excellent communication, team building, and interpersonal skills along with a proven capacity for working both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment are also necessary for success. Cedar Crest College is seeking a full time Administrative Assistant to coordinate the daily operations of our busy Business, Management and Economics and Math departments.  Responsibilities include supporting the department chairs, faculty and staff, serving as liaison between the departments and other administrative offices, and providing student services appropriate to the department function. The Assistant provides organization and support for compliance with accrediting bodies, maintains and updates files, schedules and coordinates testing, and collects and organizes data for Periodic Program Review. The Assistant also provides support for undergraduate and graduate programs and students.  This is a full time, benefit eligible, position for 10 months of the year.  

The successful candidate must possess exceptional interpersonal, customer relations and communication skills, as well as superior organizational skills with a strong attention to detail.  Proficiency with applicable software (Microsoft office) and technology is required as is a demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member in a fast paced, industrious environment with frequent interruptions. Prior experience compiling and organizing data and handling confidential information is strongly preferred.  Familiarity with an academic environment is preferred with a minimum associate’s degree in related field and three years’ experience in a similar setting.

LIFEGUARDS
Rodale Aquatic Center (RAC)
at Cedar Crest College

Our pleasant and unique Aquatic Center is seeking qualified lifeguards for our busy facility dedicated to fostering civic health and wellness in the community. The Aquatic Center is open 7 days a week, year round from 5:30 AM – 9:00 PM.

Lifeguards typically work four hour shifts and the Center can be flexible with scheduling, depending on availability. The typical work week is 15 – 20 hours total. Opportunities are available during the following part time shifts:

Monday through Friday 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM and 3:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Saturdays 6:30 AM – 1:00 PM
Sundays 10:30 AM – 5:00 PM

Qualifications: Lifeguarding and CPR certifications are required to work at the Center. Guards with experience teaching swim lessons or the willingness to learn to instruct lessons preferred.
