RA Programs

Cedar Crest Students

Please read about some of the great programs that have been hosted in the residence halls. Be sure to keep your eyes out for new and exciting RA programs!

This program, created and hosted by the entire Moortis RA staff during the week of Halloween, featured a haunted hallway as well as arts and crafts. Dressed in costume, RAs ushered groups of residents in to view the frightening “creepy hallway.” For those not interested in being frightened, Halloween crafts and snacks were available in the Moore lounge. This event was open to the entire campus and provided a great community builder for the campus.

Java for Justice

As a part of the building-wide women’s development programming spearheaded by Samantha Hyson, the Java for Justice program planned by Rachel Edgar presented information on the issue of sex trafficking, within a coffee house setting. Rachel invited one of Cedar Crest’s newest student organizations, Global Eyes, to show a documentary and also lead a discussion about this important topic. Danielle Vallies was able to have coffee retailer, Starbucks, donate coffee for the event.

The Puffin Muffin Party

Laura Shively was able to combine all the right ingredients for this program: food (muffins), catchy title, resident interest, non-traditional topics and fun social interaction -- to make this a fun, yet educational program for not only her residents but for all those on campus as well.

You Put What in That Cookie?!?

RA Allison Nygard supplied the ingredients, which included plain sugar cookie dough, baking sheet and various toppings including peanut butter and chocolate chips, nuts, raisins, candies, etc. and allowed each resident to decorate her own cookie. While the cookies baked, Allison discussed with the residents in a group, which toppings were the most popular and what each person enjoyed individually and related this theme to topics of diversity.
