Admissions Information

Admissions Requirements

  • A baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education
  • A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale
  • Prerequisite courses:
    • Anatomy and Physiology w/labs – 8 credits
    • Natural Science – 3 credits
      Physics, Kinesiology, Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science
    • Statistics – 3 credits
    • Introduction to Psychology – 3 credits
    • Human Development or Lifespan Psychology – 3 credits
      The course must cover human development from birth to end of life
    • Humanities – 6 credits
      Sociology, History, Anthropology, Philosophy, Religion, Arts, Logic, Ethics, Language, Literature
    • English/Writing – 6 credits
      A professional or expository writing course is strongly encouraged

Application Requirements

  • Official transcripts for ALL schools attended after high school, regardless of number of credits
  • 40 observation hours in the field of occupational therapy, from at least two different sites (waived for the 2022 cohort due to COVID-19).
    Observation Verification Form
  • Submitted two letters of recommendation from individuals, such as an occupational therapist, faculty member, or supervisor who can speak to your ability to be successful in a demanding OTD graduate program.
  • Completed a personal statement that reflects your understanding of occupational therapy and your aptitude for rigorous graduate study.
  • Meets the technical standards required to progress through the OTD program successfully

Additional information that must be submitted prior to matriculation includes: immunization records, physical examinations, a criminal background check and proof of health insurance.

Technology Requirements

The Occupational Therapy Doctorate curriculum is delivered primarily in person; however, some online courses are required. Students admitted into the program must be proficient in using a personal computer, including but not limited to sending and receiving email, using data and word processing software (primarily Microsoft Office software), using the Internet, and navigating the Cedar Crest College and other websites.

Students in the OTD Program must have consistent and reliable access to a computer, printer, and the Internet.

Older Computer Recommendations

If bringing a computer you already own, it should not be more than two years old and at a minimum have:

  • 8 GB Memory (RAM), 16 GB recommended
  • 250 GB Hard Drive or higher
  • 100/1000 Ethernet Wired Network card

  • Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge browser installed (Firefox and Opera are not supported browsers).

  • 14’ – 21’ CAT 5 network cable for wired connections on campus if your device has an Ethernet port. Recommended for gaming systems. (available at the college bookstore)
  • HDMI adaptor appropriate for your device (USB, mini-DV or USB-C), if your device doesn’t have an HDMI port. Recommended for use in collaborative classrooms. Available at the college bookstore.

Productivity Tools

  • Students are responsible for insuring their computers. Check with your insurance carrier for the specifics on your homeowner policy.
