Dr. Joseph Cordoma completed twenty-five (25) years in law enforcement working as a Detective, for the Hudson, Burlington, and Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Offices in New Jersey. Dr. Cordoma’s career in law enforcement was focused primarily on major crime, forensic, and crime scene investigations. He has been repeatedly certified as a qualified Expert Witness in areas such as: Crime Scene Investigation, Crime Scene Analysis, Crime Scene Diagramming, Bloodstain Pattern Analysis, and Arson (Fire Origin and Cause) Investigation. Dr. Cordoma has earned a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Kean University, a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice from Monmouth University, and a PhD in Health Science from the Seton Hall University – School of Health and Medical Science. His doctoral research focused on educating healthcare personnel on the importance of physical evidence identification, documentation, and preservation on the human body prior to law enforcement arrival. Dr. Cordoma’s research has been shared with both the medical and law enforcement communities in New Jersey. He has provided training for forensic nurses, led research on investigator safety, consulted on cold case investigations, and provided critical training for law enforcement personnel throughout New Jersey in various areas of forensic, crime scene, and arson investigations. Dr. Cordoma also completed collateral duties as a New Jersey Police Training Commission (PTC) instructor for various police academies in New Jersey, teaching crime scene investigation and other forensic related functional areas, and was also a physical training instructor. He has also been employed as an Adjunct Professor at various colleges and universities in New Jersey, teaching courses related to crime scene investigations, forensic investigations, arson investigations, and intelligence studies.
