Student Loan Information

  • Initial Loan Counseling for Student Borrowers 

    ENTRANCE LOAN COUNSELING
    The Entrance Loan Counseling is an online tutorial that provides you with information about the Federal Direct Student Loan. The counseling is to educate you, as the loan borrower, of your rights and responsibilities. You will be informed of the Direct Loan interest rates, grace period, repayment obligations, delinquency, avoiding default, deferment and forbearance options.
    Federal regulations require the completion of the Entrance Counseling prior to your Direct Loan disbursement.
    Complete the Entrance Counseling at https://studentaid.gov/ (you will need your FSA User ID and password)

  • Exit Counseling for Student Borrowers 

    EXIT LOAN COUNSELING
    As a borrower of the Direct Loan, it is a federal regulation to complete the Exit Loan Counseling once you graduate, drop below half-time, or withdraw from Cedar Crest College.
    The Exit Counseling provides you with information about monthly payments based on a variety of repayment options, borrowing history, and information about your loan servicer. It also revisits repayment options, delinquency, avoiding default, deferment and forbearance options.

Professional Licensing

In accordance with federal laws [34 CFR 668.43(c) and 34 CFR 668.43(c)(5)(v)] (effective July 1, 2020),out-of-state students enrolled in majors/programs which result in professional licensure will be provided with information (in writing):

  • if Cedar Crest College does not meet the educational requirements for licensure in the student’s location,
  • or if the College cannot determine if Cedar Crest’s curriculum meets the educational requirements for licensure in a student’s location.

Student location is defined as the location at the time of application to the College.Students are required per the College Catalog to notify the Registrar’s Office of an address change within 30 days of this change.Student questions concerning professional licensure requirements in his/her location should be addressed with the assigned academic advisor in the student’s major or program.

The Education Department’s certification programs meet all Pennsylvania Department of Education requirements for teacher certification. Students who complete our program will be certified to teach in Pennsylvania. Students wishing to transfer their license to another state will need to comply to the guidelines of that state.

Out-of-state students will be notified in writing if Cedar Crest College’s educational requirements do not meet the student’s home state educational requirements. Educational requirements do not include items such as additional testing and documentation that the out-of-state may require.

Process to Become a RDN through Cedar Crest College

Students considering entrance to the profession of dietetics as a registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN) through Cedar Crest College through the Dietetic Internship Pathway, must complete these three components:

  1. A bachelor’s degree* (it does not have to be in nutrition) and successful completion of academic coursework (DPD) at an ACEND-approved/accredited institution with a minimum cumulative and didactic GPA of 3.0;
  2. Admission and successful completion of an ACEND-accredited Dietetic Internship Program;
  3. A passing score on the National Registration Examination for Dietitians administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR)

*Effective January 1, 2024, the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) will require a minimum of a master’s degree to be eligible to take the credentialing exam to become a registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN). In addition to RDN credentialing, many states have regulatory laws for dietitians and nutrition practitioners. Frequently these state requirements are met through the same education and training required to become an RDN.
