On Friday, September 5th, 2025, Cedar Crest marked its 158th anniversary with its annual Founding Day celebration. Held outside Blaney Hall, the event featured remarks from President Elizabeth Meade, Provost Robert Wilson, Dr. Calley Stevens Taylor, alums, and other campus leaders.
Several members of the community were recognized for their achievements:
- Savannah Aguilera ’26 was honored with the Susan Everitt Hudgins Prize for outstanding academic excellence and leadership.
- Camila Castro-Nina ’27 was honored with the Haff Award as an incoming junior with the highest academic average in nursing.
- Gwenivere Fossa ’29 earned the First-Year Valedictory Award as a freshman, returning as a sophomore, with the highest academic average.
- Dr. Laura Teoli, Assistant Professor of Art Therapy and Director of the Master of Art in Art Therapy (MAAT) Program, received the Alumnae Association Excellence in Teaching Award. Under her leadership, the MAAT program launched its low-residency track in Spring 2022 and earned accreditation in July 2024. Her vision and expertise have transformed the program into a thriving cornerstone of the College.
Following the ceremony, guests enjoyed snacks, light refreshments, and a design-your-own Cedar Crest-themed coaster station. No birthday is complete without something sweet—and the celebration ended on a festive note with a giant cupcake display commemorating the College’s anniversary.

Happy birthday, Cedar Crest!
