Student Employment Center (SEC)

Students interested in applying for a work study position on Cedar Crest College’s campus should review job postings on Handshake.  All current students have access to Handshake and can access their accounts through the icon on FalconLink.

Students should direct questions about the Student Employment Center to Career Development located in TCC 205 or via email at

Applications received on Handshake will be reviewed by the on-campus supervisors, and they will contact the student directly to follow up for interviews.  The on-campus supervisors will make an offer of employment directly to their selected student(s)

If a student is accepted for the position they applied for, they have two options for paperwork:

  • New Student at Cedar Crest College’s SEC
    • If this is your first time working through the Student Employment Center (SEC), then you will need to complete the full new hire packet. This can be found in MyCedarCrest, Handshake or the Career Planning Center course on Canvas

How Federal Work-Study (FWS) Fits In

Cedar Crest College participates in the Federal Work-Study Program, a need-based federal financial aid program that provides part-time employment opportunities for eligible students. Through this program, students can earn money to help cover educational expenses such as tuition, books, and living costs.

Students typically work an average of eight hours per week and may earn up to a maximum of $2,000 per academic year. Those who qualify for Federal Work-Study are notified as part of their financial aid offer. Earnings are paid monthly by check or direct deposit.  The federal government pays a portion of your earnings, and Cedar Crest College pays the remaining portion.

Federal Work-Study income is treated separately from other student earnings when determining eligibility for federal financial aid.  The process of obtaining a federal work study is the same as the above process.  There are no additional documents required.
