On Thursday, October 9, Cedar Crest College proudly announced the launch of a new initiative designed to elevate campus collaboration and harmony: the Home of Unity and Belonging (HUB), located in the Allen House. The announcement was marked with a campus cookout where students, faculty, and staff came together to celebrate the opening and chat about the possibilities the space holds.
“I’m thrilled to see the first floor of the Allen House transform into the Home of Unity and Belonging—a dynamic space that represents the evolution of our mission,” says Dr. Leon John, Vice President of Mission Integration and Strategy. “The goal is to create a truly student-centered HUB where every voice is valued and authentic connections flourish. This new chapter embodies our commitment to collaboration and belonging, and I can’t wait to see how our students will shape this space and make it their own.”
The HUB is more than just a gathering space on campus—it’s a beacon of energy, ideas, and connection. Built on the belief that every student’s voice matters, the HUB provides an environment where students can express themselves freely and be truly heard. Highlights for the HUB include:
A Space for Students, By Students
Programs at the HUB are designed to be student-led, ensuring that the experiences reflect the needs and interests of all those who call Cedar Crest home. Whether tackling the challenges shaping today’s world, engaging in thoughtful dialogue across different perspectives, or simply enjoying light-hearted activities, the HUB fosters a sense of belonging at every step.
Bringing the Campus Together
The creation of the HUB underscores Cedar Crest’s ongoing commitment to collaboration and student engagement. By offering a dedicated space for dialogue, creativity, and connection, the College continues to build on its mission to empower students both inside and outside the classroom.
Looking Ahead
The HUB will host a variety of programs and events throughout the year, from workshops and discussions to social activities and cultural celebrations. Students are encouraged to bring their ideas forward and help shape the HUB’s offerings, ensuring it remains a vibrant and evolving part of campus life.
