All students planning to complete a degree, certificate, or endorsement program at Cedar Crest College must submit an official Graduation Application to the Registrar’s Office. It is the student’s responsibility to ensure all academic requirements are fulfilled by the end of their anticipated graduation term, including meeting with an advisor to confirm that all necessary coursework has been completed or is in progress.

To verify your academic progress, consult your Degree Audit in MyCedarCrest and review it in collaboration with your assigned advisor(s).

Important Note: Academic Graduation is defined as the awarding of a credential following the completion of an academic program. This process is separate from the Commencement Ceremony, which has its own separate eligibility requirements.

Students receiving a bachelor’s degree or post-baccalaureate certificate must complete their applications by the following deadlines.

Graduation Term Application Deadline
December (Fall) August 1st
May (Spring) December 1st

Cedar Crest College holds its annual Commencement ceremony each May. To be eligible to participate, students must complete their degree requirements within the same academic year as the ceremony (Fall, Spring, or Summer). When submitting the Graduation Application, students will be asked to indicate their intent to participate in Commencement. Graduation applications must be submitted by April 1, regardless of the completion term, to ensure inclusion in the Commencement program and scrolling marquee.

Important Note: Graduation Applications should not be submitted solely for the purpose of participating in the ceremony. Students must apply for the specific term in which they will fulfill all academic requirements. Commencement eligibility is determined after a student’s graduation date has been confirmed.

Students finishing their degrees outside of the academic year of the ceremony may participate under special request.

Request to Participate In the Commencement Ceremony

Students earning a bachelor’s degree from Cedar Crest College are awarded an honors designation on their diploma and official transcripts if they have completed a minimum of 60 letter-graded credits at the college and have maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.550. Students with these designations are also given special recognition in the Commencement Ceremony.

Honors Designation GPA Required
Cum Laude 3.550+
Magna Cum Laude 3.650+
Summa Cum Laude 3.800+

For inclusion in the Commencement program, academic honors are determined based on grades submitted as of April 1 each year. Students who meet the qualifications by this date will be recognized with the appropriate honors designation in the ceremony materials. Final honors and cumulative GPAs will be recalculated following the posting of final grades and will be reflected on official transcripts and diplomas.
