Christian Routh is a script analyst based in Catalonia, Spain, working with international filmmakers, state institutions, and training programs. For fifteen years until 2022, he was co-head of studies of the Creative Europe-supported SCRIPTEAST, serving Central and Eastern European filmmakers, during which time over fifty feature films were produced. He co-created an M.A. in screenwriting at Pinewood Film Studios in 2019, tutored for fifteen years at the Binger Film Lab in Amsterdam, and in 2012 initiated the HEZAYAH screenwriting workshops for the Doha Film Institute. He has also served as head of studies at FOUR CORNERS and the PILOTS drama series workshops in Sitges, and continues to work with national funding agencies across Eastern Europe. Before moving to Spain in 2000, he was head of selection at the MEDIA Programme’s European Script Fund and EMDA (1989–1998), supporting hundreds of European films including Toto le HérosOrlandoBreaking the Waves, and Elizabeth. Earlier, he was a film buyer and development executive at Thorn-EMI, Cannon UK, and Red Rooster Films.
