The MFA Experience
More than a degree, our two-week residencies offer a journey of craft, culture, and connection. Students from around the world come together to write, explore new places, and find inspiration beyond the routines of everyday life.
Work Closely With Faculty Mentors. Weekday mornings feature craft and locale seminars, followed by afternoon workshops and one-on-one mentorship in a low student-to-faculty environment.
Ignite Your Imagination. Afternoon and weekend excursions ignite our imaginations as we explore museums and historical sites, attend plays and musical events, and enjoy the local cuisine, among many other adventures.
Share Your Work. Students participate in open-mic readings, thesis readings, and craft presentations that allow them to showcase finished work and works-in-progress.
Form Strong Bonds. Students become part of a diverse cohort of other writers, forming a strong, lifelong bond. Reunions are held on campus, and monthly webinars are hosted with speakers and faculty on craft and professionalization.
The MFA balances cultural immersion with the structure needed to produce a body of work by the end of the degree.
