Three CCC students walk to class

March was a month filled with empowerment, celebration, and inspiration at Cedar Crest College as we honored Women’s History Month with a variety of exciting events and initiatives. From thought-provoking movie screenings to captivating performances and insightful discussions, we highlighted the achievements and contributions of women in our community and beyond. Here’s a glimpse of what we accomplished together:

Women’s History Month Spotlights: Throughout the month, we celebrated the achievements of women from our college and community with our Women’s History Month Spotlights on our Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn. We invited nominations and featured inspiring stories, shining a spotlight on the remarkable women who inspire us every day.

Equal Pay Day Awareness: Recognizing the ongoing challenge of the wage gap, we shared valuable tips from our Office of Career Development and Community Engagement on advocating for oneself in the workplace.

Movie Screenings: Presented by the Communication Department and the Center for Diversity and Inclusion, our movie screenings featured powerful films such as “Growing up Female,” “Writing with Fire,” “The Watermelon Woman,” “She’s Beautiful When She’s Angry,” and “Little Women,” shedding light on diverse experiences and perspectives.

Performing Arts: Our Performing Arts department staged a mesmerizing performance of “The Maids,” a thought-provoking play that delved into the depths of power, desire, and complex female relationships, leaving audiences captivated.

Special Guest Speaker: We were honored to host the critically acclaimed queer, feminist author Carmen Maria Machado for a reading, signing, and engaging Q&A session. Machado shared insights into her writing journey and spoke passionately about the importance of artists in today’s world.

As we reflect on the events and initiatives of Women’s History Month, we are reminded of the resilience, strength, and accomplishments of women everywhere. Thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to making this month a celebration of empowerment and progress. Together, we continue to honor and uplift the voices and achievements of women, not just in March, but every day.
