Maria Renta-Correa
Assistant Volleyball Coach

“I could not be more excited to have Maria join our staff,” Kiselica said. “Throughout the hiring process, it became clear that she would be the ideal fit for our program. Maria has an extensive playing background and has been a proven leader on every team she has played on. Her work ethic, charisma, and loyalty are exactly what we need to take this program to the next level. Most importantly, Maria will be the perfect role model for our student-athletes.”

Rentas-Correa, a native of Juana Diaz, Puerto Rico, began her collegiate coaching career in the Fall of 2022 after completing her playing career at Eastern Florida State College and Alcorn State University.

“I could not be more excited to have Maria join our staff,” Kiselica said. “Throughout the hiring process, it became clear that she would be the ideal fit for our program. While at Eastern Florida, she was a member of the volleyball program from 2018-20. Rentas-Correa collected 407 assists, 149 digs, 18 kills, and 10 service aces, 149 digs and 18 kills. She was ranked 19th in the state as a freshman in assists per set and was a two-time selection to the Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) All-Academic Team. Rentas-Correa completed her Associate of Arts degree in May 2020.

Rentas-Correa completed her playing career at Alcorn State University in the Fall of 2021 and will earn a B.S. in Biology/Pre-Physical Therapy later this summer. While a member of the Braves’ volleyball team, Rentas-Correa finished with a total of 271 assists, 88 digs, 11 service aces, and six kills. She was also a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success (Alcorn Chapter) and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). In addition, Rentas-Correa was a two-time selection to the President’s and Dean’s List.

“I feel extremely honored and blessed for the opportunity Coach Kiselica and the athletic department have given me to be part of their volleyball team,” Rentas-Correa said. “This institution has received me with open arms since the beginning of my interview process. I knew immediately I wanted to be part of a community like this, where growth, leadership and women’s empowerment are their main core values.”

Rentas-Correa closed by saying, “I want to thank Coach Kiselica for selecting me to be part of a solid program like Cedar Crest, who have a strong vision, mission, championship culture, and community who support all their athletes. I want to continue the tradition of Cedar Crest while I can serve as a guide for the next generation of leaders. I also want to thank Coach Eleutiza from Eastern Florida and Coach Robinson from Alcorn State. From the beginning when I started working with them as a player, they saw the qualities I could also bring to a team by being a coach. Without their trust and confidence, I probably would’ve not taken the step to become a coach.”
