Talking Circles

A method of dialogue based on a Native American tradition that invokes respect and reflection. The CDI hosts these informal conversations about current diversity topics in a brave and welcoming space for all CCC community members every other week on Tuesday’s from 4-5 p.m.

Cultural Cafés

Hosted on the 1st Wednesday of every month 11a.m.-1 p.m. These events provide an opportunity for our students to explore cultural diversity in the US and abroad through intentional experiential programming.

Food for the Soul

Hosted every month. Food for the Soul is a safe space for women of color to explore their understanding of self-care and self-love practices while reconnecting and rediscovering collective healing. Open to all CCC students, staff, and faculty.

Gender & Sexual Diversity Programming

This series of programs seeks to build awareness, education, and community to create a world where people of all genders and sexualities are able to thrive as their full, authentic selves. For more information on Gender & Sexuality click here.

Interfaith – Spiritual and Religious Diversity

The CDI works in collaboration with CCC offices and faith student organizations on campus to implement programs throughout the year to celebrate the spiritual and religious diversity at CCC. Programs can include events to highlight religious/spiritual holidays and Queer Spirituality. The CDI provides programming to students of all faiths to seek avenues of personal growth.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Education and Workshops

The CDI provides Educational Workshops and Training sessions for campus departments, Academic Departments and student groups. Through the leadership of the Inclusion Advocates and the Executive Director of Diversity and Inclusion, the goal is to promote DEI work so that each member of the campus community feels a sense of belonging and awareness.

Accessibility

Accessibility is the practice of making information, spaces, and activities accommodating to as many people as possible. Accessibility has an important role in many people’s lives especially those with disabilities. Accessibility also aims to make life more equitable for people with disabilities and/ or societal barriers. At the Center for Diversity and Inclusion (CDI) the accessibility inclusion advocate’s (IA) responsibilities are to plan events with Disability Services, maintain outreach with students, and advocate for more accessible practices at the college. The CDI works in collaboration with CCC academic departments and offices to bring forth even more opportunities. We also collaborate with other local colleges to bring local social justice conference opportunities for students.
